Febrile seizures occur in children between six months and five years of age. They are a type of seizure that happens in children who have a fever and most commonly occur in those aged 12 to 18 months. While they are generally considered harmless, studies show that about 2 to 5 percent of children who experience febrile seizures may develop epilepsy later in life.

Simple febrile seizures and complex febrile seizures

• Duration: Simple febrile seizures typically last less than 15 minutes (not a lasting time period of 15 minutes).
• Frequency: They generally do not occur more than once in a 24-hour period, but they can occur again during the same illness or with future fevers.

Complex febrile seizures doesn’t have above characters any seizure which last more than 15 minutes or it occurs more than 24 hours in a day or it only involves in the movement of single part of the child’s body then it is complex febrile seizures and for this type of febrile seizures treatment is necessary.

Symptoms of febrile seizures

• Excessive shaking: A child’s both of the either one or both side of their body began shaking by losing the control of its muscle. It commonly happens with shaking, stiffness and tensing up.
• Losing consciousness: The child will pass out and loses control of their body, their eyes might roll back.
• Loss of control: The child might lose their control, and their body may vomit, urinate or defecate.

Possible causes

A fever is the one which triggers febrile seizures in the body of the child. It usually occurs in the first day of child’s fever when temperature suddenly increases more than 100 degree Fahrenheit or 38 degree Celsius. There are cases where kids can get seizures before the fever. Mostly viral fever is the one which cause febrile seizure. It can also trigger due to any type of infections like:

• Strep throat.
• Upper respiratory infections

If a febrile seizure happened for a child there is a risk of having that again later on. About 10% of child who suffered febrile seizures once can trigger that condition again or thrice or more. The children who had seizures before their age of 1 have the highest risk of causing febrile seizures again

Dosage

Start with the first dose from the Red Colored Sachet on the first day.
